Reworked Goods

built to be reworn, reused, and reloved

*Unless specifically stated

All things Pearl Wilson are reworked goods. We search high and low for fun vintage or all those barely worn garments that are becoming a real problem for the fashion industry and turn them into something new.

The Fashion Industry's Biggest Problem

TLDR

the global fashion industry produces approximately 92 million tonnes of textile waste annually, with less than 15% being recycled

Textile production consumes 93 billion cubic meters of water yearly

In the United States alone, an estimated 11 million tons of textile waste is generated annually.

85% of textiles/garments are thrown away each year. Oftentimes, the waste is sent to developing countries where they will sit for the foreseeable future.

In considering all the negatives that come with the fashion and retail industries, we aim to make sure that we are doing everything we can to help mitigate the issue.

Or, at the very least, not add to the issue.

Lucky us, we have had close ties with DURITex™ since its inception 20+ years ago.

DURITex™ is an innovative textile treatment process that preserves fabric and controls things like odor through the incorporation of an all natural enhanced antimicrobial bonding technology.

The treated materials are guarded against microorganisms and stay fresh and clean even after extended periods of use.

Why do we care?

1) The treatment's physical protective qualities means that the garment's natural fibers won't break down as quickly as normal.

aka a longer lifespan

aka not ending up in that big pile of thrown away clothes somewhere

2) Washing can now look like rinsing it in cold water and hanging it out to dry - the treatment does the rest.

aka saving water and energy
